"My Decatur My Hometown" lyrics
MY DECATUR, MY HOMETOWNWords & Music by Dave Colvin © 2006
Verse 1 MY DECATUR, MY HOMETOWN
IN MY HEART SOMEHOW I KNOW YOU’LL ALWAYS BE AROUND
AS I CRUISE DOWN ELDORADO, SPECIAL MEMORIES CAN BE FOUND
IN MY DECATUR, MY HOMETOWN
Verse 2 YEAH, MY DECATUR, MY HOMETOWN
IN THIS SOUL SOMEHOW I KNOW YOU ALWAYS CAN BE FOUND
AS I DRIVE BY THE TRANSFER HOUSE A CELEBRATIONS ALL AROUND
IN MY DECATUR, MY HOMETOWN
BRIDGE ITS A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE YOUR FAMILY
AND NO MATTER WHERE YOU ROAM IT WILL ALWAYS BE…..
Verse 3 OUR DECATUR, OUR HOMETOWN
IN OUR HEARTS SOMEHOW WE KNOW YOU’LL ALWAYS BE AROUND
AND AS WE HEAD OUT HIGHWAY 51 WE HAVE TO TURN RIGHT BACK AROUND
TO OUR DECATUR, OUR HOMETOWN
YEAH OUR DECATUR, OUR HOMETOWN
MY DECATUR, MY HOMETOWN

Macon Music!
Over on Facebook recently a couple of my friends have spoken of their memories of being able to listen to 45's in sound proof booths at the old Macon Music downtown.
I don't quite remember that but my memories wrap around taking 6 guitar lessons from a young man named Floyd Sunderlik (sp) - but I was so impatient. He wanted me to play "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and I wanted to play Beatles songs. So I took my $25 guitar we bought there and began teaching myself with a chord book I bought from Macon Music.
When Mom would need to go somewhere like Carson Pirie Scott & Co. or Sears, I'd ask to be dropped off at Macon Music. I would walk around looking at all the wonderful instruments they had; pianos, drum kits, guitars of all sorts, violins, clarinets (I played the clarinet for about 15 minutes in 6th grade at Parson's). They had small box containers that held all sorts of guitar picks and strings!
Macon Music was in an older building - I don't know the history of the location and would love to find out! It had a musty yet not unpleasant smell that also included the smell from the instruments!
A few years later, K's Merchandise Mart opened a store downtown and they sold some instruments which competed with Macon Music. I bought two guitars from K's and rarely went back to the music store. I know it closed and I'm not sure what is there now but I'll always have my memories of Macon Music!

Video milestone
The original "My Decatur My Hometown" video has reached another milestone on Youtube - it has surpassed 12,500 viewings!
I envision reaching 15,000 viewings by my August 7th performance at the Decatur Celebration! To reach that we need to step up the pace of views!
Let your friends know and they can help us reach that goal! :>)
Although I'm grateful for how many views there have been already. It was never in my wildest imaginations possible that this little 2 minute video/song! Page view analysis shows it has been viewed all over the world (except Antarctica).
